Päivi Pylvänäinen

Päivi Pylvänäinen is a versatile musician originally from Savonlinna. Her career encompasses roles in opera, musicals, and spoken theater. Her recent acclaimed opera roles include the role of Maija Harri in Madetoja’s “Pohjalaisia” at the Vaasa Opera in spring 2023 and the leading female role of Santuzza in “Cavalleria Rusticana” at the Åbo Svenska Teater in spring 2022. Other notable roles include Mercédès in Tampere Opera’s production of “Carmen” in spring 2020, Berta in “The Barber of Seville” at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in summer 2019, and the title role in Ilkka Kuusisto’s opera “Aino Ackté” in 2017. Pylvänäinen has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Mikkeli City Orchestra, Rakuuna Band, Tampere Philharmonic, Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Saimaa Sinfonietta, and the Finnish Defense Forces Band. She has also worked as an actor at the Mikkeli Theatre in the summer of 2022, Teatteri Eurooppa Neljä in the summer of 2018, and Savonlinna Theatre in the summers of 2012 and 2008-2010.

Pylvänäinen began her music career as a violinist but later shifted her focus to vocal studies. She initially studied theater music and music drama at Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences, then attended the Kuopio Music and Dance Academy, and eventually pursued opera training at the Sibelius Academy, from which she graduated with excellent grades in spring 2015.

In the summer of 2023, Päivi Pylvänäinen will return to the role of Berta at the Savonlinna Opera Festival.

Päivi Pylvänäinen will perform in “Koko perheen satukonsertti” at Torstila Manor on July 29th at 13:00 and at Leppäkerttu School on July 30th at 13:00.
