Mirjam Helin Song Contest Prize Winner

The International Mirjam Helin Song Contest will take place for the ninth time in Helsinki from 3 to 12 June 2024. Organised by the Finnish Cultural Foundation since 1984, the competition has brought out many top singers of the future. The first and semi-finals of the competition will be held at the Sibelius Academy Concert Hall. The final concert in the Music Hall on 12 June will feature the Helsinki City Orchestra conducted by Sir Mark Elder.

As of 6 February, 56 singers have been admitted to the competition on the basis of a video audition. The competition received 485 applications by the deadline, representing sixty-five different nationalities. There are four Finnish singers: Iris Candelaria, Emma Mustaniemi, Johannes Pessi and Heta Sammalisto. The competition also attracted singers from South Korea, Armenia, Germany, Costa Rica, China, Croatia, Australia, South Korea, Costa Rica, Germany, the United States and Australia. In total, 25 nationalities are represented.

The soloist for this concert at Järvikylä Manor will be one of the finalists, selected by our artistic director Jussi Merikanto. When the competition starts, you can vote for the singer you would like to see perform at the Joroinen Music Festival from among the finalists (we will open the voting on Facebook and Instagram.) The concert is organised in cooperation with the Mirjam Helin Song Contest organised by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
