Music of three masters – Sallinen, Talvela & Pärt 90
The opening concert of the Joroinen Music Festival in Juva beautiful stone church offers a unique musical evening, featuring the music of three artists born in 1935. The programme combines the impressive musical language of Aulis Sallinen, the singing legacy of Martti Talvela and the mystical minimalism of Arvo Pärt.
The performers are baritone Ville Rusanen, bass Timo Riihonen, pianist Marjaana Merikanto and violinist Liisa Karl. The concert will feature excerpts from Sallinen’s operas, Pärt’s meditative piano music and a tribute to Martti Talvela, whose deep bass voice and Finnish opera heritage still lives on.
