Power and the Powerless
“If you want to control the people, start by controlling their music.” – Platon
A fact-based theatrical concert about power and democracy — its past and future — performed by two singers, a pianist, and an actor. The performance also explores the relationship between composers of different eras and those in power. And what about the use of power within art itself? Is art ever truly free from power structures?
The performers are singers Onerva Merikanto and Päivi Nisula, actor Timo Torikka, and pianist Marjaana Merikanto.
The concert will take place at the Järvikylä Manor. Doors open at 4:00 PM. Intermission refreshments will be provided by the Järvikylän maa- ja kotitalousyhdistys. There are steps at the entrance; our staff will assist if needed. Personal assistants are admitted free of charge with the ticket type “Pyörätuoli + avustaja” (Wheelchair + Assistant).
