Sekasointuja (Confusing chords)
This musical monologue tells the dramatic story of poet L. Onerva’s growth. The performance depicts the young Onerva’s struggle amidst the turmoil of childhood traumas, community expectations and pressures to become independent. In particular, Onerva’s life was marred by the ambiguous fate of her mentally ill mother, who left behind an unhealed wound.
Hilja Onerva Lehtinen (1882-1972) lived her youth in a time when women’s status was strictly limited and the path to becoming an artist was not self-evident. Onerva’s unconventional lifestyle for her time and modern approach to literature caused much resentment at the time. L. Onerva was a pioneer of art and an independent maverick, whose life events are still moving to this day. The performance will also include Onerva’s poems, especially from her first collection of poems, Sekasointuja, written at the age of 22, and songs composed to the poems. Onerva will be played by actress-singer Lotta Aakko, with music and soundscape by guitarist Jaakko Rosnell. The play is directed and written by Niina Aho.
The performance will take place in Putkisalo Manor. A romantic wine bar and café will be open before and during the intermission. You can book a table in advance directly at the manor house: 050 3405130. After the event, you can go shopping at the Putkisalo Manor sheep farm shop. The doors to the event open at 14:00.
You can combine this event with a cruise. Esitys + risteily -package (Performance + cruise) ticket is available at the Lippu.fi-ticket office, which includes a cruise from Savonlinna to Putkisalo, an event ticket and return transport to Savonlinna by bus. M/S Katrilli departs from Savonlinna Market Square at 11.30. You can enjoy lunch on board (lunch is not included in the cruise price). Please book your lunch in advance: 044 517 3040. Lunch costs € 17,50 and includes an appetizer, a warm meal and a dessert coffee with a small sweet. The boat arrives at Putkisalo Manor pier at 14.00. The distance from the pier to the manor is about 1 km. You can walk the distance while admiring the idyllic countryside. A ride in a tractor-trailer is also available, leaving a walking distance of about 300 metres. If required, a ride can be arranged for the whole trip. The return journey to Savonlinna leaves at 17.30. The bus journey takes about half an hour. The cruise and the return trip will be organised in cooperation with Blue Lake Cruises Oy.
