Welcome

The theme of the 2026 Joroinen Music Festival, Oma Tunto (Own Feeling), focuses on the inner voice of human beings, that silent compass that guides our choices, actions, and relationships with others. We do not approach conscience as a nagging judge or a voice of guilt, but as a positive and inspiring force that calls us to act wisely, gently, and courageously.

Conscience and self-esteem are deeply connected. When a person dares to listen to their inner voice and live according to their values, it also strengthens their perception of their own worth and significance. Healthy self-esteem is not built on external approval, but on the experience of being able to trust oneself and do good in the world. In this way, the inner voice does not weigh us down, but supports us. It does not judge, but encourages.

This inner voice is also heard in communities. When a difficult and shocking event affects a community, the first suggestions for a solution are often harsh: more surveillance, punishments, and restrictions. But sometimes a different choice is made. Then it is decided to increase empathy, closeness, and love, to build connections where violence had broken them. It is the voice of conscience as a collective force: the ability to see that true security does not come from fear but from caring, not from distance but from closeness.

Through art, we explore what happens when we allow this inner voice to guide us toward goodness: responsibility, connection, justice, and empathy. Oma Tunto can also be a source of creativity and change, an invitation to step outside our comfort zone, listen more closely, and see the world through different eyes.
