Aili Ikonen & Jukka Perko: Klasstet
The new ensemble of singer Aili Ikonen and saxophonist Jukka Perko interprets some of classical music’s most famous melodies with a jazz-infused approach!
Classic melodies familiar to many are given new life when well-known tunes from P. Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and E. Grieg’s Peer Gynt to Valse Triste of J. Sibelius are combined with brand new poetic lyrics.
Finnish lyrics have been conjured up for compositions originally known as instrumental versions by Paleface, Mariska, Mikko Kuustonen, and Kanerva Pasanen, among others – all of whom are strong lyricists today.
Wonderful melodies and new Finnish poetry – this collection takes the listener to a whole new world of emotions!
Aili Ikonen is one of Finland’s leading singers and songwriters, who in 2025 was awarded the Yrjö Prize by the Finnish Jazz Federation, one of the most prestigious awards in the jazz world. Jukka Perko is known for his numerous successful bands and his extensive repertoire as a guest soloist with big bands and symphony orchestras.
The concert will be held at Kartanogolf in Joroinen. A stage will be built in front of Restaurant Kesäkartano for the event. The audience will watch the concert from the restaurant terrace and the lawn area, where chairs will be placed. Some of the seats will be placed under canopies. The restaurant, which has a full liquor license, will be open throughout the performance. Seating will be assigned at the event. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. If the weather is clear, we recommend bringing sunglasses. The sun will set behind the stage. If rain is forecast, please bring a raincoat. Umbrellas are not permitted in the audience area.
Before the concert, starting at 5:30 p.m., a varied cold dinner will be available from the buffet table for € 38. Those who have reserved a meal are required to purchase a ticket in advance (Joroisten Musiikkipäivät online store, festival office, or Kartanogolf). Those who have reserved a table on the glass terrace may keep their seats for the entire concert. Those dining in the restaurant will be directed to the auditorium area when the concert begins. We offer diners and groups the opportunity to reserve seats in the auditorium.
