Forest of Sounds
DUO ANNA-LIISA ELLER & TAAVI KERIKMÄE
Cembal d’amour, arpanetta, clavichord, theremin, modular synthesizer, chromatic and archaic kannel
Kotkatlahdentie 72, Joroinen
Duo Anna-Liisa Eller & Taavi Kerikmäe perform music ranging from the Middle Ages to the late Baroque period. The musicians create their own arrangements of early music and commission new works from contemporary composers. A particular focus of their artistic work is the hidden treasure of Estonian Baroque music.
The concert consists of two distinct programs, each featuring rare instruments:
“Forest of Sounds” is a journey through centuries of music, in which the duo leads the audience across musical landscapes of different eras. Works by Louis Couperin, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert de Visée, and Heino Tulve are reimagined through an instrumental combination of clavichord, theremin, modular synthesizer, and kannel.
“Hidden Treasures” features music by David Kellner performed on cembal d’amour, arpanetta, chromatic and archaic kannel, and clavichord. Kellner’s music is harmonically surprising yet delicate and expressive, ranging from virtuosic and intense passages to intimate moments. The cembal d’amour was built in 1721 by the famous German instrument maker Johann Heinrich Silbermann, commissioned specifically for Regina Gertrud König, Kellner’s adopted daughter.
The concert takes place in Joroinen Chapel, a space known for its exceptional light and atmosphere.
The event is supported by Joroisten apteekki and Joroinen Parish.
