Jazz Finland 100 – Nina Mya

NINA MYA vocals
HENRI MÄNTYLÄ piano

Time: 19:00 Torstilan kartano

Torstilantie 197, Joroinen

In celebration of the Jazz Finland 100 anniversary year, Nina Mya has curated a blend of Finnish and American jazz that reflects different eras and styles of jazz history. In her artistic expression, she brings together the roots of Black music—jazz, soul, and gospel—with Scandinavian melancholy and sincerity.

Together with pianist Henri Mäntylä, Nina Mya brings to the stage the international soul of jazz singing alongside selected Finnish gems. She is known for her deeply emotional interpretation, and in this concert she also highlights the legacy of her great jazz vocal role models.

This concert is part of the nationwide celebration of Finnish jazz’s centenary, encouraged by the Finnish Jazz Federation. At the same time, we celebrate the venue itself—the barn of Torstila Manor, which turns 100 years old this year. The barn was designed by architect J.S. Sirén, who also designed the Finnish Parliament House.

The concert takes place in the upper loft of the Torstila Manor barn. Intermission refreshments are provided by Myrskylyhty ry. Proceeds from the café service will be donated to support Ukrainians. The café opens well in advance of the concert.

Doors open at 6:00 PM. Parking guidance will be provided on site. Please note that access to the loft is via an old bridge, which is quite steep and uneven. Our staff will assist if needed. It is possible to drive guests to the entrance for drop-off, but cars must then be moved to the parking area. An outdoor toilet is available for visitors.

In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland aboard the ship Andania. The year therefore marks a historic centenary celebration of Finnish jazz: Jazz Finland 100. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its creators both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz Finland 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.

The concert is supported by Joroisten apteekki, Maanrakennus Viljakainen Oy, and Ravintola Kaks Ruusua.
